Welcome to 2026! After completing the Year in Review exercise for myself (I sent out my favorite reflection exercise on 12/21. If you missed it and are interested, hit reply and I’ll send it to you personally ☺️) I realized that 2025 was one of the best years I’ve had in a while. Not because anything really huge happened, but because I finally feel in alignment with the direction my life and business are heading and I am soooo excited to see how this next year unfolds! I am so grateful to have you in my life, Reader. To be able to support and guide you through your gut healing journey in whatever capacity feels right. I do not take anything for granted. 🥰 OK, enough of the mushy stuff…let’s get into it! Announcements:
When I first started actively working on solving my bloat, smelly gas, and severe constipation years ago, the naturopath I was working with told me that the only way I’d heal my SIBO was to “starve the bacteria.” This translated into more restriction, more fear around food, and more white-knuckling my way through life. And for a while, I was convinced this was just the price I had to pay to feel better. Because even when I was doing everything “right” – the strict diets, the supplements, the protocols – I still felt like my body was one step away from falling apart. I was exhausted, terrified to eat the “wrong” food, feeling like my gut was always going to hold me back from the life I wanted to live, and beating myself up because I just wasn't disciplined enough. Let me save you some time... none of that was true. What finally changed things for me wasn’t a stricter plan, it was a different strategy altogether. I learned (the hard way) that you cannot starve bacteria out forever. If even one organism survives, it repopulates the moment you try to eat like a normal human again. That’s why elimination diets and even the Elemental Diet can feel like they’re “working” at first, but as soon as real life resumes, your symptoms come roaring back. Healing didn’t start until I stopped asking, “What else do I need to cut out?” And started asking, “What does my body actually need to heal?” That meant:
That’s the approach that helped me heal after 10+ years of symptoms. And the approach that has kept me SIBO-free for 4 years now. If you’ve ever thought: “I’ve tried everything.” “I’m the healthiest person I know, but I still feel like sh*t - what am I doing wrong?” I want you to know: it's not from lack of knowledge or even trying. It’s because most approaches completely ignore physiology, individuality, and what it takes to make symptom relief sustainable. I just published a brand new blog post where I break down this exact process step by step – why you're still stuck, what actually moves the needle, and how to build a roadmap that works with your body and life. You can read the full post here (and see how these pieces fit together in a way most practitioners skip over completely). You don’t need more willpower or another diet. What you need is a strategic plan that finally makes sense. I hope this gives you some clarity – and maybe even a little hope. 🤩

Hi Reader! Chris, Tony (my adorable orange taby), and I are preparing to move back down to New Mexico later this year and we have A LOT to do. We’ll be renting our house out, so we have some repairs/renovations to take care of first, which means we’ve already started going through and packing up some of our stuff (or should I say Chris has started). While I truly appreciate his enthusiasm and wanting to be prepared, it also means we’re living in a little more chaos than I typically like. And...
My client Nina is a post-menopausal woman who was first diagnosed with SIBO two years ago. Since then, she’d worked with multiple functional nutritionists who hyper-focused on clearing the overgrown bacteria. She cut out gluten, soy, garlic, onions, and sugar. She did antibiotics. She even did the Elemental Diet – which left her starving and miserable for three weeks. And yet…relief only lasted 1-2 months at best. When we first met, she was still dealing with excessive, room-clearing gas,...
