What my client thought was SIBO for 2 years, turned out to be this instead

My client Nina is a post-menopausal woman who was first diagnosed with SIBO two years ago. Since then, she’d worked with multiple functional nutritionists who hyper-focused on clearing the overgrown bacteria.

She cut out gluten, soy, garlic, onions, and sugar.
She did antibiotics.
She even did the Elemental Diet – which left her starving and miserable for three weeks.

And yet…relief only lasted 1-2 months at best.

When we first met, she was still dealing with excessive, room-clearing gas, unpredictable bowel movements, crushing fatigue, and a ton of fear around eating anything she didn’t prepare herself.

As soon as she joined Heal Your Gut Blueprint, we hit the ground running.

The first thing we did was order a GI-MAP stool test so we could actually see what was happening inside her gut – infections, parasites, digestive function, bacterial balance, inflammation…the whole picture.

While we waited for her results, we focused on building her gut healing foundation.

Very simple tweaks to what she was eating and when she was eating to create internal safety and support digestion.

We also cut way back on the supplements she was taking, because some of them were directly contributing to her loose, urgent stools.

Four weeks later, when we met to review her test results, she said this:

“Even before I got my results back I’ve started to feel so much better. Before, I was running to the bathroom with the runs all day. Now I’m having solid, complete bowel movements daily and my afternoon energy is so much better.”

And what we learned from her results is exactly why I love the GI-MAP. Her results didn’t show ongoing bacterial overgrowth at all. Instead they showed a C. diff infection and a completely burnt-out gut immune system.

Both can create symptoms that look and feel just like SIBO, but they require a very different plan of action. No wonder nothing was working and she still felt like sh*t! (Pardon my French. 😉).

This is a hill I will die on:

Knowing whether SIBO is present on a breath or aspirate test is WAAYYY less important than knowing what led to the overgrowth in the first place.

And when you actually go down that path, you may discover you’re not dealing with overgrowth at all.

The information you get from any blood, stool, or hair test is only as good as the interpretation of that data.

So even if you’ve already done a GI-MAP and didn’t get the relief you were promised or hoped for – it’s not because the test is bad. It’s that no one knew how to connect the dots and uncover your specific root causes.

If you’re curious whether the GI-MAP is worth your time and money, I created a short training explaining exactly how I use it to identify your root causes and build a personalized, step-by-step healing plan.

Hit reply or respond to this poll and I’ll send it your way.

Until next time!

xoxo Grace

Can I ask you something kind of personal, Reader? How much time do you spend thinking about your digestion? If the answer is "more than I'd like to admit," you're not alone. So many women I talk to say that managing their symptoms is basically a full-time job. They’re constantly left wondering why nothing is working. Planning their mornings, their meals, their outfits around what their stomach might decide to do that day. And quietly canceling plans because they just can't risk it. That's not...

Hi Reader, Today we're getting a little more personal because I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on my life and healing journey lately and I’m seeing a lot of similarities in my clients’ journeys, so there's a high chance you’re experiencing some of these things as well. We want to be told our root cause fits into this nice little box, so we can follow a protocol and BOOM it’s fixed (I know I felt that way for a long time). But 99.99999% of the time, it doesn’t work like that, which can be a...
