After working with over 80 women through their gut healing journeys, I've started to notice a clear pattern. The clients who get the biggest transformations (the ones who go from unbuttoning their pants by 3pm and planning trips around bathroom access to eating ice cream with their kids without a second thought) aren't necessarily the ones doing the most. They're the ones doing the right things, consistently and strategically. And here's exactly what that looks like, Reader. 6 Things That Separate the Clients Who Heal From the Ones Who Stay Stuck1. They prioritize blood sugar balance over eliminationI know. You came here for gut health advice and I'm leading with blood sugar. Stay with me. When your gut is struggling, the instinct is to cut more foods out. But what your body actually needs is stable energy and that starts with eating breakfast with protein every single day and planning your meals and snacks ahead of time. This doesn't mean spending your entire Sunday batch cooking (unless that's your thing). It means knowing what you're having for breakfast before your busy morning hits, picking two or three dinners for the week, and keeping a few reliable snack options on hand so you're never caught hungry and spiraling into a bag of crackers at 4pm. 30 to 45 minutes of thinking ahead on the weekend saves you from a week of reactive eating that throws your blood sugar, and your gut, off balance. 2. They're eating at least 140-150g of carbs and 30g of fiber per dayI know that fiber and carbs are often the first things to trigger symptoms when you're in the thick of it. Fiber is genuinely hard to digest when your gut bacteria are out of balance, your stomach acid is low, or your pancreatic enzymes aren't keeping up. That's real, and I'm not dismissing it. But avoiding these foods indefinitely is not the answer. That relief you felt cutting them out isn’t going to last forever, and in the meantime, you're missing out on the minerals your body is quietly running out of. Carbs are one of our biggest sources of potassium and magnesium. Without them, your body can't keep up with hormone production, stomach acid production, or basic energy demands. And potassium specifically is essential for healthy gut motility. Your gut is a muscle — it needs to contract and release to move food and waste all the way through. Without enough potassium, slow motility isn't a possibility. It's a guarantee. The goal isn't to stay in the avoidance phase. It's to build your gut up to where it can handle these foods again. Taking things slow and steady is the key. 3. They're consistent with a few things rather than perfect at everythingThis one is big. Before adding a new layer to your healing plan, it's worth getting honest about your capacity. Do you genuinely have the time and energy to take on more or would you get further by narrowing your focus to the two or three things that will have the biggest impact right now? If it's the latter, you always start with the foundations: eating consistently and enough, getting adequate rest, gentle movement, plant diversity, mineral repletion, and taking an honest look at your stress load. Pick the one that feels most attainable and start there. Then add layers slowly as your capacity grows. Burnout is not a healing strategy. 4. They take fewer supplements, not moreI'll keep this one short: more is not more. A targeted, intentional approach to supplementation will always outperform a cabinet full of products you found on Google at 11pm. 5. They recognize that healing takes timeMost of my clients have been dealing with their symptoms for years, or even their entire lives. So the eagerness to feel better yesterday is completely understandable. But the clients who get the most lasting results are the ones who have learned to be deeply skeptical of anything promising an overnight transformation. They know how to look for (and celebrate!) every step forward. 6. They treat their symptoms as information, not a death sentenceThis might be the most important mindset shift of all. Symptoms are your body's way of communicating that something needs attention, not a sign that you're broken, that healing isn't possible for you, or that you're going to feel this way forever. The clients who lean into that curiosity instead of spiraling into fear are consistently the ones who make the fastest progress. If you read through this list and thought I already know all of this — the question worth sitting with is whether you're actually doing it. Consistently. Not just when you feel motivated, but as a baseline that your healing is built on. And if you're not sure where to start or feel like you've been spinning your wheels despite doing all the things, that's exactly what a gut clarity call is for. We'll look at what's actually going on, figure out what's been missing, and map out your most logical next steps together. Book your free gut clarity call here

Hi Reader! I recently got back from a trip to New York. Most of the time was spent with family about an hour north of the city at our annual family reunion pig roast — yes, a full pig roast (see photos below), it's as chaotic and wonderful as it sounds — but my husband and I were able to sneak into the city for a couple of days on our own. NYC is one of my favorite places in the world. I've been visiting my grandparents there once a year since I was five years old and have been daydreaming...

What if I told you, it might not be SIBO. And honestly, Reader, even if it is, jumping straight to antimicrobials without understanding why the overgrowth developed in the first place is exactly why so many women end up right back where they started six months later. I know that's not what Google told you and it's probably not what your naturopath told you either. But it's what I see over and over again, and it's exactly what happened with one of my recent clients – I'll call her Chloe. Chloe...
